After having invested capital and work, it is time for Contrib’City to try to amortize its start-up and operating costs. CC, with collaborators, has given a lot of thought to the different funding models for this tool dedicated to the territories and their inhabitants. To make a crowdfunding? You are already contacted every day. Apply for a grant from local authorities? But, suddenly, Contrib’City would loose its independence from these authorities, which would considerably reduce the dialogue, as well as all the salt that goes with it and that puts so much taste in our daily life. In addition, public charges in France are already enormous: the French public structures, in all, already took up to 54% of the GDP in 2019, this GDP having contracted by 5.8% in the first quarter of 2020 (let’s hope for an increase in consumption after “deconfinement”). We expect a post-crisis deficit at 115% of GDP, that is to say (not counting the long term French State’s commitments) more than twice the annual income of the public administrations.

Local taxes are not forgotten: apart from the housing tax which has been partially removed in 2020 and which – it is an assumption – will probably be replaced by another contribution but with a different name, they have increased sharply. In the town of Jouy-en-Josas, for example, in 2018, the total amount of local taxes represented € 8,557,984, compared with € 3,752,104 in 2002, an increase of + 128% [1]TAXES-LOCAUX.ORG, Taxes Jouy-en-Josas (78350), [consulted on May 1st, 2020], available at: http://www.impots-locaux.org/impots-locaux-jouy-en-josas-78350/. Just between 2015 and 2018, they increased by almost 20%. Property tax on built properties between 2007 and 2018 increased from 2.2 million euros to more than 4 million (> 80%). Taxes relating to the Yvelines department for Jouy-en-Josas taxpayers increased from 1 million to 1.7 million, an increase of 68% between 2015 and 2016.

Advertising, a very simple and classic solution, would allow Contrib’City to continue to live, to help the development of economic or associative actors – EPF Projet is an association intended to train young engineers – while preserving your hard-earned savings. Of course, this partnership will be with companies that meet certain ethical criteria, in particular that of respecting commitments to customers, through, among other things, its after-sales service.

Contrib’City is at your disposal for any type of solution that may come to your mind, dear Contrib’Citizen.
